The Accidental Pundit

I never expected in my wildest dreams to be a teacher. I already had plans and ambitions in my life before entering higher learning institution. I know for a fact that we were all trained by our parents to be something like this or something like that in some cases because they want you to continue their frustrations in life.

To be honest, my life is really unpredictable. Though, I'm in control of myself, I cannot merely control situations. I joined a contest in my lower years and I wore a suit of a lawyer. I set my mind to be something like that. However, as years goes by, I don't know but my mind changed maybe because of maturity and employment matters. This time, I wanted to be a flight attendant (so gay).

I wrote on my USTET (University of Santo Tomas Entrance Test) Tourism and Hospitality Management as my first choice and Secondary Education as my second choice. How unfortunate it is! Fate brought me to Secondary Education! It's quite peculiar because I never felt any remorse and actually that moment I felt that I belong in this profession. I cannot question God about that. Apparently, I felt that I'm really settled now in my program after gaining a bunch of friends and my "Tuts" as well. Likewise, my Dad told me that teaching is a good really job. You'll be paid during vacation break, you don't go to school on weekends (except for important matters), and you hold the time. I'm convinced.

Now that I'm a Pre-service teacher, I realized that teaching is not a lucrative profession but it was the most fulfilling experience I had in my entire life. Trepidation and sort of nervousness are just some of the dilemmas I encountered but it was manageable. I became confident enough and never had problems with them. Of course, it's pretty obvious that being noisy is part of any class in normal school set up.

All in all, my teaching experience with Grade 7 students was one of the most memorable one. I hate to say goodbye to them and that's one of the lessons I've learned in my life. Teachers come and go in our lives and exactly true to us also. Time will come they will graduate and teachers gave themselves for the sake of reviving the truth in humanity. It is just a matter of learning what is really important in our lives and that is to detest evil in our society, to be better than we are right now, and become a responsible citizens in the future.

"In education it isn't how much you have committed to memory or even how much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don't. It's knowing where to go to find out what you need to know and it's knowing how to use the information you get."
